Details & Model Background

This project is a 3D representation of the PPKUKM building designed with a low-poly art style. As a Full-Stack Web Developer, I understand the importance of balancing visual aesthetics with asset efficiency, especially for implementation in web environments that require fast loading times.

The model was created entirely using Blender, with the main focus being to simplify the building's geometry into iconic basic geometric shapes while retaining the distinctive silhouette of the original building. This technique not only provides a modern and clean feel but also ensures the model can be rendered smoothly on various devices without burdening application performance.

Through this project, I aim to demonstrate my ability to transform complex real-world objects into optimized digital assets. This model is ideal for integration into interactive maps, web-based applications, or as a supporting element in digital presentations that require an artistic touch while remaining functional.

How the System Works

The development process of this 3D model follows a structured workflow to ensure asset quality and compatibility. The first step is collecting visual references of the PPKUKM building to map out the basic structure and key elements that characterize the building.

Next, I perform modeling in Blender using box modeling techniques focused on polygon reduction. I selectively remove unnecessary details and optimize the number of vertices without sacrificing the building's visual identity. This process is crucial to ensure the model remains lightweight when imported into web engines like Three.js or Babylon.js.

The final stage involves applying materials and simple shading settings. I use a consistent color palette and flat shading to emphasize the low-poly aesthetic. Once the model is complete, I export it to a universal format such as GLTF/GLB to guarantee seamless interoperability with various modern web development frameworks.

Key Features

  • Efficient Low-Poly Geometry: Drastically reduces polygon count to ensure very fast rendering performance in modern browsers without compromising visual clarity.
  • Material & Shading Optimization: Uses lightweight and consistent material techniques, providing a clean and modern visual appearance, ideal for minimalist user interfaces (UI).
  • Web-Ready Format: The model has been exported to GLB/GLTF format, the industry standard for 3D assets on the web, making it easy to integrate into Three.js or React Three Fiber projects.
  • Proportion Accuracy: Despite using a low-poly style, each structural element of the PPKUKM building retains accurate scale and proportions relative to real-world references.
