POS BLOC PS.BARU
Visual exploration of the iconic Pos Bloc Pasar Baru building in an artistic low poly 3D format. Created with Blender, this model combines retro-modern aesthetics with high performance efficiency for your digital asset needs.
Details & Model Background
This project is a creative interpretation of Pos Bloc Pasar Baru, a historic landmark in Jakarta that has transformed into a public creative space. In crafting this 3D model, I focused on the low poly style to ensure a balance between artistic detail and asset efficiency, making the model lightweight and responsive when implemented in web applications or game engine environments.
The entire process was done using Blender, where I optimized the polygon count without sacrificing the iconic silhouette of the colonial building. The main challenge in this project was capturing the essence of the grand classical architecture of Pos Bloc while maintaining a clean, minimalist aesthetic. Every corner of the building, from the roof structure to the facade details, was carefully mapped to provide an authentic visual experience.
As a Full-Stack Web Developer, I understand the importance of web-ready 3D assets. Therefore, this model is not just visual; it is designed with clean topology, making it easy to integrate into Three.js or React Three Fiber projects. This is a manifestation of how 3D technology can blend with modern web development to create more immersive digital experiences.
How the System Works
This 3D model of Pos Bloc was designed through a structured pipeline to ensure optimal quality and performance. The first stage begins with blocking the basic shape of the building using primitive modeling techniques in Blender, ensuring accurate scale and proportions relative to the original reference of Pos Bloc Pasar Baru.
After the basic shape is formed, the next step is the low poly optimization process. Here, I clean up unnecessary vertices and edges to minimize the triangle count without damaging the original form. This technique is crucial to keep the model lightweight when loaded in a browser, preventing lag during real-time rendering.
The final stage involves applying simple materials and efficient UV unwrapping. Using techniques like flat shading or texture baking, the model can display consistent visuals across various devices. The final result is exported to industry-standard formats such as GLTF or GLB, which are the most compatible formats for modern web needs and web-GL based application development.
