Details & Model Background

This project presents a 3D version of the Universitas Gadjah Mada logo, designed to reinforce the campus's visual identity across digital and print media. Its primary goal is to provide a representation consistent with branding guidelines, so the logo can be used on website hero banners, presentations, and campus promotional campaigns.

My methodology starts from researching official branding references from UGM, then building the base blocks of the letters and the main symbol using Blender. I apply a non-destructive modeling technique with modifiers and clean edge flow, followed by UV mapping for textures, and PBR-based materials that highlight campus colors. This process yields shapes that are precise, proportionally accurate, and ready to be varied for different media sizes.

The final output includes GLB/OBJ files for web and AR integration, high-quality render images for the portfolio, and a brief documentation on color palette, proportions, and usage guidelines. This project not only demonstrates my technical prowess in 3D modeling but also my understanding of branding within educational institutions and how to convey campus values through three-dimensional form.

How the System Works

Here is the workflow of the system I apply:

  1. Branding Research: gathering color guidelines, the UGM logo shapes, and relevant visual references.
  2. Modeling: creating the base mesh in Blender, following the letter proportions and the main symbol elements, using modifiers for fine details and clean edge flow.
  3. UV Mapping & Texturing: unwrap UVs, prepare PBR materials for campus colors, reflections, and consistent surface gloss across media.
  4. Lighting & Rendering: set up an HDRI environment, configure three light directions to accentuate the form, render with Cycles for realistic quality and Eevee for quick previews.
  5. Export & Optimization: export GLB/OBJ files, compress texture sizes if needed, ensure web & AR compatibility and optimal loading performance.
  6. Documentation & Deliverables: document proportions, color palette, and usage guidelines for print and digital media to reuse in other projects.
