Details & Model Background

This project is an artistic 3D interpretation of the KOMDIGI RI (Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia) building, realized in a modern and minimalist low-poly style. As a developer, I was challenged to transform complex architectural structures into efficient visual assets while preserving the main characteristics of the original building.

The model was created entirely using Blender, with a primary focus on polygon efficiency to ensure the asset can be loaded quickly across various platforms, whether interactive web applications, educational games, or digital presentations. The low-poly approach was chosen not only for its trendy visual aesthetics but also to provide integration flexibility into full-stack projects that require optimal performance.

Through this project, I aim to demonstrate my ability to combine 3D modeling techniques with technical understanding of asset optimization. The final result is a clean, structured, and ready-to-use model, reflecting my commitment as a developer to deliver the best visual quality without compromising overall system performance.

How the System Works

The process of creating this 3D model of the KOMDIGI RI Building follows industry-standard workflows for real-time assets. The initial stage begins with collecting visual references of the building's architecture to ensure that iconic proportions and details are preserved even in the low-poly style.

After gathering references, the blocking process is carried out in Blender to determine the basic shapes (primitive shapes). The next step is topology optimization, where I minimize unnecessary vertex and face counts without losing the building's distinctive silhouette. The main focus here is to ensure the geometry remains manifold and clean to avoid issues during rendering or integration into a game engine.

The final stage involves applying simple materials and setting up lighting to give dimension to the model. Given the target use for web or interactive applications, I ensure that the final file size is very lightweight (file size optimization) so users will not experience loading issues when loading this model in their web browsers.
