KEMNAKER RI Building
Exploration of a low-poly 3D model of the KEMNAKER RI Building optimized for web performance. A creative work by Langen Dimas Pramudya that combines architectural precision with digital asset efficiency.
Details & Model Background
This 3D model project of the KEMNAKER RI Building is a case study in creating efficient digital assets while preserving the visual identity of the original structure. As a Full-Stack Web Developer, I understand the crucial balance between architectural detail and file size optimization for website performance. This model was created using Blender with a low-poly modeling approach aimed at minimizing polygon count without sacrificing building aesthetics.
The process began by gathering accurate visual references of the KEMNAKER RI Building facade. The main challenge was simplifying the complex geometry of the building without losing its distinctive design features. I focused on efficient blocking techniques and lightweight materials, making this model ideal for implementation in web-based 3D environments such as Three.js or Babylon.js.
This model is not just a visual representation, but a form of my dedication to combining technical web development skills with 3D design art. With a clean structure and optimized topology, this model is ready to be integrated into various interactive applications, digital portfolios, or virtual environment simulations that require lightweight yet professional-looking assets.
How the System Works
The process of creating this 3D model follows industry-standard workflows for game assets and interactive web applications. The first step is the Block-out Phase, where I build the basic structure of the building using primitive objects in Blender to ensure scale and proportions match the original design.
The second step is Optimization & Retopology. At this stage, I simplify the geometry by removing invisible faces and merging meshes to reduce draw calls later. This technique is crucial for the model to load quickly in browsers without burdening the user's GPU. I also apply efficient UV Unwrapping techniques to maximize texture usage.
The final step is Export & Integration Prep. The model is exported to web-friendly formats such as GLTF or GLB. Before finalization, I test it in third-party viewers to ensure no visual artifacts or issues with normals. The end result is a ready-to-use, lightweight, high-performance asset for modern web application development.
