KEMDIKBUD RI Building
Visual exploration of the KEMDIKBUD RI Building in a precise low poly 3D model. Created with Blender, this work highlights minimalist aesthetics while preserving iconic national architectural details.
Details & Model Background
This project is a creative interpretation of the KEMDIKBUD RI Building, one of the iconic government architectural landmarks in Jakarta. As a developer focused on visual efficiency, I chose the low poly approach to ensure this model is not only aesthetic but also lightweight and optimal for implementation in various scenarios, from game assets to 3D environment simulations on the web.
The entire process was carried out using Blender, where the main focus was simplifying the building's complex geometry into clean forms without losing its original visual essence. The biggest challenge in creating this model was maintaining the majestic vertical proportions of the KEMDIKBUD building while keeping the polygon count low to ensure maximum application performance.
The final result is a clean, well-structured 3D asset ready for use. This work proves that with proper modeling techniques, we can create architectural assets that are visually relevant while technically efficient, reflecting my dedication to combining art and technology in my web development portfolio.
How the System Works
The creation of this 3D model of the KEMDIKBUD RI Building follows standard industry 3D workflows to ensure optimal asset quality. The first step began with in-depth visual reference collection to ensure accurate building proportions. Then, the blocking stage was done in Blender to determine the building's basic silhouette using simple geometric shapes.
After the basic form was established, the process continued with low poly modeling, where each vertex and face was optimized to reduce computational load. I applied efficient edge loops techniques so the model remains sharp and proportional despite using a minimal number of polygons. This stage was crucial to ensure the model stays lightweight when rendered in a browser.
The final step was the shading and basic texturing process. I applied materials with a color palette resembling the building's original colors to give a realistic finishing touch while maintaining the artistic low poly style. Once completed, the model was exported to web-compatible formats such as GLTF or OBJ for easy integration into web application ecosystems.
