Details & Model Background

This project is my creative experiment in 3D modeling, where I attempted to replicate the iconic form of a popular minimarket into a more artistic and aesthetic low poly version. Named 'AFLAMART', this project is not just a replica, but a form of appreciation for retail architectural design that is very familiar in Indonesian society, repackaged with a cleaner and more efficient visual approach.

In the creation process, I used Blender as the main tool to sculpt every building element. My main focus was to maintain easily recognizable visual characteristics—such as glass facades, signage, and entrance layout—while keeping the polygon count low. This low poly approach was chosen to create a retro yet modern feel, highly suitable for use in game development assets or 3D environment simulations.

The final result of this model shows how design efficiency can produce a strong visual impact. Through this project, I honed my technical skills in poly-modeling, simple texture setup, and basic lighting in Blender. This is proof that with the right techniques, everyday objects can be transformed into attractive and functional digital assets.

How the System Works

The workflow for creating the 'AFLAMART' 3D model follows the standard industry pipeline for low poly game assets, starting from the blocking stage to the final rendering stage. The first step was collecting visual references of the original minimarket building, which I then simplified into basic shapes (cubes and planes) to ensure mesh efficiency.

After the basic shape was formed, I performed extruding and loop cutting in Blender to shape facade details, windows, and doors. The use of modifiers like Mirror greatly helped maintain building symmetry for precision. Next, I applied simple UV Unwrapping techniques to map solid color textures, avoiding heavy textures to keep the model lightweight.

The final stage involved setting up lighting using HDRI lighting to give a realistic feel to the materials without adding complex details. Finally, I performed rendering using Cycles Engine with optimized sample settings, resulting in a clean, sharp final image ready for portfolio use or as a virtual environment asset.
